Dedicated To Sparky—My Inspiration
Rover, Buddy, Spot, Milo, man’s best friend; any of these names ring a bell? Dog’s are one of the smartest land mammals. They have done their fair share of saving people. Budwiser, a 14 month old St. Bernard dragged two girls out of a burning building. It took him three trips in and out, and when he finally came out, his pads were burned badly. Another St. Bernard named Polar Blu Samaritan Von Barri, but people called him “Grizzly Bear”, actually fought a mother grizzly bear when it attacked his master. The list goes on and on.
Dogs have been with us from the beginning. From a wolf to a lap dog, they were made for everything: pointer, retriever, elk hound, otter hound, dachshund, Egyptian Greyhound. Dachas means badger and hound means dog. The other words before hound are pretty self-explanatory. If dogs passed down stories and they could tell them to you that would be incredible.
Dogs have always helped and they always will help. From sled dogs to police and fire dogs, they are so loving. A long time ago, people dropped dogs off on our house step, and my grandma couldn’t say no, so my uncle and grandmother each had a dog, and my mother had a cat. When I was born, Shadow, my uncle’s dog was alive. He loved me so much, I would give rib bones to him and he would take it so gently from my hand. I remember a little and I have heard that one time when I was swimming in the pool, (I was only about 2), I was splashing around and Shadow thought I was drowning, so he jumped in and tried to save me. My mother’s Newfee named Lu, loves my brothers and sisters. They will flop on him like he is a pillow. He will flinch, groan a little, and then close his eyes or lick them. My dog, Sparky, is smart. If a door is cracked open, he uses his nose to nudge it open. He can climb on rocks, and he eats about every kind of food. He eats many fruits, like water melon, oranges, and he eats many types of nuts. One time I saw him crack open a walnut, spit out the shell, and only eat the nut inside. He also opens Christmas and birthday presents. He holds it with his paws and rips the paper off. I think he was once human.
So to sum it all up, dogs can do amazing things and most of the things they do are for their masters, not for themselves.
